Surprising Birthday Party!!

Celebration is the theme to our module in Upper Intermediate class this week.

As it turned out, we had a good reason to celebrate because it was Danila’s birthday.

Today we began our class by surprising Danila with balloons and a birthday song from her classmates.

We had a wonderful Celebration buffet with foods such as….

Brigadeiro, Coxinha, Bolinho de Queijo and Good old Aussie Chocolate Mud Cake!  

Soooooo delicious!

We mingled for a while, played a couple of Christmas songs….

And then it was time for grammar J

What do you think of smoking & killing animals for fun?

Fantastic debating in the Intermediate class this morning!
We debated whether smoking should be banned EVERYWHERE and people should not kill animals for sport. There were such strong opinion between the sides!

What do you think???

debate 1. Smoking should be banned EVERYWHERE.

         * Agree : Smoking is hazardous to your health, also to others who don't smoke (passive smokers). 

         * Disagree : We cannot make people not smoke at all.

                            We need to respect their taste and give them a special place to do it

debate 2. People should not kill animals for sport

                  * Agree : We shouldn't kill animals for fun. That's pointless and cold-blooded! 

                  * Disagree : It's a great way to control over-population and get rid of pests.

IIA school BBQ party is just finished!!!
It was awesome! Lots of sausages, pasta salad and bread.... even though it rained a little bit...-.-;;

Shall we have a coffee?

Do you know about our Coffee Talk Shop sessions???

On Monday 30th August.
Some of our IIA students had a coffee talk shop with 2 local Aussies after class.  Must admit, they were pretty fun with a great sense of humour.  It was a good opportunity to speak with native speakers outside of class. We met initially in the Resource Centre, then later moved upstairs to the 7th floor where we had some coffee & biscuits while chatting. The students did pretty well expressing themselves and understanding what the Aussies where saying.

The group started with an introduction of each member. After that they played a game where each person had to say 2 things about themselves: one true and one false. The rest of the group had to guess which one was the truth. They had so much fun even though it was the first time.

The most important thing is having a good time with Australian people those are friendly and humourous. I had a good time with everybody!
